Road Trips: Destination Hershey

Featured Video Play Icon

Nothing says “summer days off” like piling into the car with a destination in mind (and in your GPS), but we all know that it’s the detours along the way that really make the trip. Whether you’re bound for Hershey’s Chocolate World, The Liberty Bell, or the Phipps Conservatory, take a PA Wine Land detour and visit one of our state’s 200+ wineries (at least one of which is definitely on your way).

Here’s how:

Step 1: Choose your destination.
(We chose Hershey this time. Check back to see where else we’re headed.)
There are 15 award-winning wineries in the Hershey-Harrisburg Wine Country. These wineries offer a variety of handcrafted wines for any palate and are conveniently close to Harrisburg, Hershey, and Lancaster.

Step 2: Pack for the weekend.
Some essentials that we suggest are:

• A PA Wine Land map (view it here or visit a local winery to pick one up)

• A camera (or your phone since you’ll probably want to share what you snap!)

• A notebook to jot down your new favorite wines

Step 3: GO!
Get out on the road and enjoy the peaceful countryside that surrounds the Hershey area. There’s plenty to see and (more importantly!) taste, so pick up some souvenirs along the way to remember your travels.

Step 4: Unpack.
We’re always a little worn out after a well-planned road trip, but we’re never too tired to unpack our new finds and remember the adventure we just had.

Step 5: Savor the memories.
A trip to Hershey means coming home with plenty of wine and plenty of chocolate. Share your finds with friends while you regale them with stories of your journey –or enjoy them by yourself after a long day at work. We won’t judge.

If this sounds like your kind of road trip, check out our wineries or wine trails maps to start building your own PA Wine Land itinerary.
