Road Trips: Destination Pittsburgh

Head west, wine lovers!

We love the Steel City and its ‘burbs for lots of reasons, but mostly because the area is home to 39 wineries, each one offering something tempting from Southwestern Pennsylvania’s fertile soil.

We recommend packing a PA Wine Land map (view it here or visit a local winery to pick one up) so you can make the most of your weekend getaway. There’s plenty for wine and food lovers to do with must-see attractions such as the Heinz History Center, Primanti Bros., Station Square, and Pittsburgh Popcorn Company. Plan to sample the city’s bustle and the country’s charm during your trip, and bring an extra suitcase to fill with souvenirs (the “Terrible Towel” is a must), regional specialities such as Prantl’s Bakery’s drool-worthy burnt almond torte, and Mancini’s Bakery’s irresistible breads with local cheeses and charcuterie, and wine. Lots of wine. You’ll probably want to stay a night (or two!) to fully immerse yourself and luckily, we know of some top accommodations in this part of Pennsylvania Wine Land.

If this sounds like your kind of road trip, check out our wineries or wine trail maps to start building your own PA Wine Land itinerary.
