Looking for a way to make this year’s Father’s Day unforgettable? Is your dad a wine lover? Or are you hoping to help him expand his palette beyond beer? Either way, grab pops and head to a local winery for one of these special events.
Here’s a sampling of enticing events happening across PA Wine Land.
Presque Isle Wine Cellars, one of the oldest wineries in the state, is giving all fathers the royal treatment. They’ll enjoy free locally-popped PopLuck Gourmet Popcorn along with discounted bottles of wine; buy six and get one free!
Choose your meat — marinated chicken breast, salmon or rib-eye — they’ll grill it up for you, and serve it alongside salad, bread, vegetables, a baked potato and dessert. Savor your dinner alongside a bottle of wine or two one-ounce flights, all for only $30 per person. This event is by reservation only; you must be 21 yrs or older to attend.
It’s the perfect man-tastic mashup of BBQ, beer and family. Enjoy a lunch of Texas-style BBQ featuring pulled pork, mac and cheese, baked beans, and coleslaw, served with a glass of beer or wine. Then get the competitive juices flowing with some lawn games. $55 per person, with additional drinks available for purchase; make a reservation by calling 215-493-6500, ext. 19 or by visiting crossingvineyards.com.
This Father’s Day, indulge in wine, cheese and charcuterie pairings — the curated spread will feature four meats, four cheeses, fresh bread, and olive oil (all sourced from less than 40 miles from the tasting room), paired with four wines. There will also be live music all weekend and beer on tap from La Cabra Brewing, including a farmhouse ale fermented on fresh-pressed Penns Woods Chardonnay grapes. $28 per person; reservations required, call 610-459-0808.
Treat your pops to a meal and a drink (or three) in this beautiful spot nestled between the Blue and Mahoning Mountains. The winery, which specializes in cool climate wines like Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, is offering $3 glasses of wine and wine slushies all weekend.
Dads will not only receive complimentary wine tastings all weekend, they’ll also be able to enjoy an enticing selection of PA craft beer, wine cocktails, and wine slushies from the Chaddsford Slushie Shack. Looking to add on something special for Pa? You can sign up for a Reserve Winery Tour ($20) and learn all about winery’s growers, winemaking philosophy, and production line. The tour concludes with a wine-and-food pairing featuring small bites and three of their Artisan Series wines. On Sunday, the Natalie’s Fine Foods truck will be on-hand, serving up snacks. (The winery will close at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16 for a private event.)
It’s a match made in heaven: donuts and wine. The winery will be curating special flights to pair with Duck Donuts‘ famous blueberry, raspberry, Oreo, and Maple Bacon donuts. Tickets are $10 in advance; $15 at the door.
