EVENTS: Celebrate PA Wine Month

October is PA Wine Month, which means there’s a hefty slate of amazing events happening across the state. Whether you’re looking for an autumn-filled day, a night of salsa dancing, or an evening of sipping wine by the fire, there’s something on this list for you.

Here’s a sampling of events happening across PA Wine Land during PA Wine Month.

North West

Volant Mill Winery: Autumn Pumpkin Festival
October 13 – 14   •  Volant, PA
Celebrate all things pumpkin at this annual autumn festival. The winery will be serving up mulled wine, apple wine, and other specialty drinks perfect for chilly fall days.

Deer Creek Winery: Jam Band Thursday
October 18  •  Shippenville, PA
Why wait for the weekend, when you can celebrate the “pre-kend”? This October, head to Deer Creek Winery for Jam Band Thursday and enjoy the groovy stylings of Billy Colwell.

North Central

Laurel Mountain Winery: H’owloween Paint and Sip
October 13  •  DuBois, PA  •  $28
Crack open a bottle of Laurel Mountain wine and let your creative side shine at this owl-themed happy hour. Arrive a few minutes early to uncork and settle in before this sip-and-paint class.

Three Dogs Vino: Three Year Anniversary
October 27  •  Bloomsburg, PA
Congratulate the Columbia County winery on three years in business at this festive daytime get-together featuring food from The Pork Dude BBQ, spirits from nearby Lang Beverage Company, live music, and, of course, wine from Three Dogs Vino.

North East

Blue Mountain Vineyards: Grape Picking and Stomping Party
October 6, 7, 13, 14  •  New Tripoli, PA  •  $5
Arrive at Blue Mountain Vineyards for a casual breakfast, followed by a morning of harvesting, a wine tasting, lunch, and grape stomping — just be sure to wear comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes and work gloves. On Saturdays, there will be live music from noon – 2 p.m.; on Sundays, stay for the Sunday Music Jam (2 – 5 p.m.), which includes a reserved table and another wine tasting (an additional $5).

Tolino Vineyards: Run the Vineyards – Sips, Tricks or Sweets 5K
October 28  •  Bangor, PA  •  $42
Work up a sweat and enjoy views of the Pocono Mountain at this Halloween-themed Fun Run. Celebrate your finish with wine and gourmet chocolate. There will also be a costume contest, a food truck, and live music. All ages and levels welcome; runners (at least those over 21) will receive wine, a souvenir glass, chocolate, and a shirt.

South West

Christian W. Klay Winery: 17th Annual Ex-PAWS-ition Dog Day
October 7  •  Chalkhill, PA
Bring along your furry friend and soak in a day of autumnal beauty in the Laurel Highlands. The 17th Annual Ex-PAWS-ition will feature a stroll through the vineyard, vendors, grooming services, and other surprises for you and your pet. Fayette Friends of Animals will have animals on-site available for adoption.

B&L Wine Cellars: Annual Halloween Party
October 28  •  Johnstown, PA
This annual Halloween Party will feature live spooky tunes by Raining Blue, free tastings, snacks, and wine sold by the glass or bottle.

South Central

The Vineyard at Hershey: Salsa & Bachata night at The Vineyard
October 4  •  Middletown, PA  •  $10; $15 per couple
Get your groove on with live salsa and bachata music at the vineyard. Move to the vibrant sounds of Los Monstros as you dance the night away. Refuel with wine and craft beer on tap.

Marburg Estate Winery: Acoustic Patio Music
October 27  •  Spring Grove, PA
‘Tis the season for relaxing al fresco. Head to Marburg Estate Winery to enjoy an acoustic set and a glass or two of wine.

South East

Black Walnut Winery: 6th Annual Fire and Wine Event
October 6  •  Sadsburyville, PA  •  $25 advance; $30 at the door
Head to the winery for live tunes, local artisans, food vendors, and a huge bonfire. Ticket price includes a souvenir wine glass and your first drink (or a tasting of four wines). A portion of the proceeds benefit the local fire company, and first responders receive a ticket discount. There is limited seating on the patio, so pack a lawn chair or blanket.

Sand Castle Winery: Once Bitten, Twice Dead Dinner Theater
October 20  •  Erwinna, PA  •  $65
Prepare yourself for a thrilling evening of dinner and entertainment — just be sure to guard your neck! Vacationing vampire couples Edwardo and Ella and Dracula and Lucy fight for what they desire: Lucy dreams of Dracula dropping his ridiculous Transylvanian get-up and dressing like a “normal” vampire; Ella wishes that Edwardo would just bite her already (while she’s young).
