How about a set of New Year’s Resolutions you’re actually excited to tackle? We’ve put together a Pennsylvania wines-centric list that will set you on the path to tasting, celebrating, connecting, and exploring in 2019.
1. Try new varietals.
Take a pass on your usual Merlot or Pinot Grigio, and explore new grapes such as Chambourcin, Albariño, or Vidal Blanc. Looking for some guidance? Check out our Pennsylvania Wine School articles.
2. Plan a trip to a local winery you’ve never visited before.
Of course you have your go-to spots for tasting and shopping, but give yourself a push and maybe you’ll discover a new favorite.
3. Cook more dinners at home.
One of the best ways to make eating in more appealing is to make it feel special, like a respite carved out of your day — so set the table and open a bottle of Pennsylvania wine.
4. Serve PA wine at your next holiday celebration.
Whether it’s Passover, Easter or a Fourth of July barbecue, spread the love with a selection of local wines.
5. Introduce someone in your life to PA wines.
Give them their first taste, either by gifting them a bottle, inviting them to a vineyard, or opening your favorite bottle at cocktail hour.
6. Visit restaurants that serve PA wines.
Hit up Google or pick up the phone to discover local wines alongside restaurant-quality food.
7. Switch it up.
If you’re a dry wine drinker, try something sweet. If you’re a sweet wine drinker, try something dry. The tasting room at your favorite local winery should be able to point you in the right direction.
8. Bring people together.
Organize a weekly or monthly gathering so that socializing becomes stress-free. A couple suggestions from us: book club, card game, crafting night, movie night, weekly TV watching shindig. Serve PA wines to make sure people show up.
