LOCAL PAIRINGS: This Pennsylvania Rosé is On Point
In our new Local Pairings series, we’re teaming up bright lights from the worlds of sports, entertainment, food, and media with a wine expert for a bit of tasting and chatting.
In our latest video, we’re twirling and swirling with BalletX dancer Ashley Simpson and Jill Weber, owner of Jet Wine Bar in Philadelphia.
A performer with the city’s premier contemporary ballet company, Simpson enjoys a glass of wine with friends after a long day of pliés and jetés. She also likes to sip something that livens up her vegan diet, which is heavily influenced by her Caribbean heritage — think rice, veggies, plantains, and plenty of spice.
To get Simpson’s taste buds dancing, Weber introduces her to a crisp rosé made from Cabernet Franc. The pair sniff and taste, while Weber offers an explainer on how rosé is made. She also encourages Simpson to eschew upscale snacks in favor of her favorites — in this case, plantain chips.
The wine featured in this video is rosé from Galer Estate in Chester County.
