Susquehanna Heartland

About this Wine Trail

The Susquehanna Heartland Wine Trail is home to 16 wineries scattered throughout central Pennsylvania, just north of the state’s capital. The location is a real find for wine lovers, as the region’s climate yields hardy native grapes, premium hybrids, and delicate Riesling, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir varieties.

Tips for Visiting

The Susquehanna River Valley was made for touring. As you travel among the wineries on the Susquehanna Heartland wine trail, plan your day to include visits to the charming downtowns of its many small towns. Lewisburg, home to Bucknell University, boasts antique shops and fine dining. Venture down the river to stroll along the historic streets of nearby Selinsgrove, settled in 1754 making it one of the oldest towns in Pennsylvania. On the way, stop at Shikellamy State Park to embark upon a leisurely hike, and enjoy its two overlooks for the breathtaking views of the river confluence, where the North and West branches of the river meet.
