Upgrades continue to be completed on the tasting room at Karamoor Estate Winery in Montgomery County.
For years, tastings on the fenced-in 250-acre Karamoor Estate in Blue Bell, which was founded by Nicholas and Athena Karabots in 2011, were accessed by reservation only.
That began to change in 2020 with planned renovations on a barn located at the edge of the property, but was halted by a large fire that destroyed the structure just before Thanksgiving that year.
Cleanup and construction took a couple of years, but that tasting space did open in 2022.

Upgrades on the space, with seating both under cover and out on the grass, have continued, winemaker Kevin Robinson told PennLive.
“We added roll-up doors all the way around the front and sides of the bar, so that can be open or closed rain or shine,” he said. “We were open all winter now that we have full heating and A/C for the heat of summer.”
He noted that the barn has been fully restored and is now used as a space for tasting-room overflow or for private parties.
The winery is also celebrating its recent recognition as a “Philly Favorite” by The Philadelphia Inquirer. You can see the link here (Page 31).

Karamoor Estate's first vintage was 2008 and it opened to the public in 2011.
Located at 6118 Butler Pike, in Blue Bell, the winery is open for tasting from 2 to 8 p.m. on Fridays and 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
It’s a property that features more than 20 acres of vines, planted with the expertise of renowned viticulturist Lucie Morton. Per the website, the vineyard features “a diverse selection of vinifera grape varietals, including Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Pinot Gris.”
As one of the state’s top winemakers, Robinson continues to pump out high-quality dry red and white wines.
Several newly released wines medaled at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, including a 2022 Meritage (red blend) that won a gold. It’s Karamoor’s first release of the wine since 2017, Robinson said.
