The PWA would like to let you all know that our friend and colleague Cain Hickey has recently been diagnosed with cancer.
For so many of us, Cain has been far more than an educator—he has been a mentor, advocate, and tireless champion of the Pennsylvania wine industry. Through his leadership and dedication to Penn State Viticulture and Enology, he has helped shape vineyard managers and winemakers, strengthen our industry, and inspire innovation across the Commonwealth. His impact reaches every corner of Pennsylvania wine, and many of us have been fortunate to benefit from his knowledge, generosity, and unwavering support.
During this difficult time, we hope our wine community can come together to offer the same kindness and support that Cain has so generously given to others throughout his career.
We encourage you to send a note of encouragement to Cain and his family to let them know they are in our thoughts. If you are able, we also invite you to consider making a contribution to his GoFundMe campaign to help ease the financial burden as he focuses on treatment and recovery.
