Winemaking Internship/Co-operative Experience

Robert Mazza, Inc. is a family run operation consisting of three wine brands (Mazza Vineyards, Mazza Chautauqua Cellars, South Shore Wine Company), two winery locations and a distillery located along Lake Erie in PA and in Westfield, NY. The winery crushes approximately 1500 tons on site per year (vinifera, hybrids and native varieties). A portion of the business is dedicated to contract production, production of bulk juice and wine, and contract bottling.
Responsibilities
This position is hands-on and will develop the candidate’s technical knowledge of winemaking. The candidate will work closely with winemaking, lab and cellar staff as they are trained in a wide range of winery operations. Responsibilities cover a wide range of operations from crush to bottle including crushing, pressing, fermentation, cellar operations, lab analyses, preparation of blends for bottling, and record keeping. The candidate must be self motivated and be able to work individually and as part of a team. The candidate must be able to help organize and complete work in an effective and efficient manner with a focus on quality. Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks is a necessity as is the desire to help craft quality wines.
Requirements
BA/BS in Food Science, Enology or similar field or AAS in Viticulture and Wine Technology
Interest in winemaking or winemaking experience
Mechanical ability a plus
Computer skills in Word, Excel and Database programs
