1822 Winery was founded and is proudly owned by Neil Markle and Kailyn Thomas. Rooted in a deep respect for family heritage, they are dedicated to preserving the history of their farm while creating memorable experiences for every guest who visits.

Nestled on 150 scenic acres in the heart of the Laurel Highlands—just minutes from Route 70—our family farm is rich with tradition. The farmhouse and barn, both built in 1822, inspired our name and remain standing today as proud symbols of our legacy. We are honored to be the 7th generation to live in the home and the 8th generation to cultivate this land.

Perched at 1,250 feet above sea level, our vineyard sits atop one of the highest points in the area, offering what we believe is the best view around. Whether you’re joining us for a relaxing afternoon or a special celebration, we invite you to experience the beauty, heritage, and handcrafted wines that make 1822 Winery truly special.
