In 2003 Nicholas and Athena Karabots began the planning process to replace the existing crops with vineyards. They hired Lucie Morton, a top viticulturist in the United States, who did soil and exposure studies to decide what varietals could be planted and on what areas of the 250 acre property. Karamoor Estate’s distinction is to produce world-class wines exclusively from 30 acres of 100% estate grown Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Viognier, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot grapes.
